So, what does link bait mean?
Link bait is nothing but a technique through which you inspire peoples in your niche to link back to your post via their blog, web page, social networking or social bookmarking site, articles in article directories or any other method that tells other about this post (thus giving you direct traffic) while improving your backlink count and hence search engine ranking.
Here you bait your content and wait for catch i.e. backlink from bloggers, web content creators etc. You are not requesting them to link back to you rather they do it theirselves.
You should think why should they do that, what are you providing? Is this as valuable to achieve back link? So the main thing you should work on is your content
How to achieve Link Bait?
Rather writing interesting, informative and valuable article you should also focus on following tips to improve Link Baiting performance.
A) Provide valuable resource, like -
i) a huge list of useful tool peoples want to use,
ii) well built 'how to' section where you solve problems of peoples in your niche etc
B) Write something controversial, like -
i) make a joke about celebrity or show scandal
ii) show shortcomings of popular products or
iii) be the first to expose a scam
(the risk is all upto you, Ha Ha).
C) Run a contest or giveaway something really valuable for free to your visitor, these has the potential to go viral.
D) Publish intervew of prominent peoples in your niche.
E) Be the first
i) to solve a problem in your niche
ii) to write latest news in your niche
iii) in doing something new on the internet
